Are Your Wisdom Teeth Causing Swelling? Here’s How to Deal with It

Posted .

Oral hygiene is very important for a top-notch smile and oral health, and part of oral hygiene is having a healthy and balanced diet. So, if you want your child to have strong and healthy teeth and gums, our dentist, Dr. Robert Stemme, encourages you to teach them about tooth-healthy foods.

You can do so by telling them about how fruits, vegetables, and dairy products can help their little chompers. Then, you can put them on produce duty at the house. Encourage them to keep tabs on the amount of produce left and how fresh they are. Next, have them make a list of the fruits and veggies you’ll need at the store. While you’re at the store, teach them about how to pick the freshest produce that will last the longest. This can be like a little field trip. You can even get the produce person involved! Encourage your child to ask questions and try picking the fruits and vegetables out themselves.

Another thing you can do is invite your child to help you in the kitchen. As you make meals and snacks, explain how you use tooth-healthy ingredients to make the tooth-healthy meals and snacks. You can even have them wash and peel the fruits and vegetables before you include them in the recipe!
